Fall

I absolutely LOVE the fall. Fall is my favorite time of the year for a few reasons. Mainly, fall is the time of the year when Allen & I first started dating... first date was homecoming. We were also married in the fall, November 22, 2003. And, finally besides all of the holidays just around the corner, apples, pumpkins, mums, and Halloween, there is DEER SEASON.

Yes, I, Ashley, do deer hunt. I have been hunting pretty much my whole life. I grew up mainly a tomboy, out rolling in the dirt, riding around coyote hunting with my dad, the whole works. I really do enjoy being out in the woods with the leaves changing, watching the squirrels fight and play. It is really peaceful and exciting all in one.

I have never been one just to trophy hunt, we always have our game processed for us to enjoy throughout the year. Every year for Christmas, Santa always got summer sausage and milk, and the reindeer got straw. Christmas morning would come, and we would in return, jump out of bed and check to see if Santa and his reindeer had been to our house. There would be a empty glass and plate waiting for us with stockings full of toys. And then outside.... outside there was very little straw left on the ground and reindeer tracks there in the snow. We were always amazed by this and thought it to be soo cool to have Santa's reindeer tracks in the front yard. After a few years we finally figured out what really went on. My dad would go into his shed and bring out the hoof he had saved from the deer he had taken that shot gun season before christmas, and made the hoof prints in the snow. Hey, they were going to be thrown to the dog anyway. I know it is gross to some, but, hey, that is a really neat idea.

I am by no means a hillbilly, I do appreciate things like vera bradley purses, and willow tree figures, pink toe nails, and hot bubble baths, not at all like Gretchen Wilson's Redneck Woman song. Anyway, I am getting off track.

With this being our 5 year wedding anniversary this November, I had a wish list and have already received my gift early. Allen had asked what I really wanted, and with both of us being the avid hunters that we are, I asked for a bow, so I can take out an archery permit this year. My new bow is a Hoyt Kobalt, in realtree camo. I really do enjoy shooting it outside with Allen. It is something that we each enjoy doing, and is something we can do together. If you are even remotely interested to see what a compound bow looks like, let alone mine, you can follow the link below.

I'm sorry if this whole blog has been totally random, but I have just not had that much sleep today at all.
