Disadvantages of Being a "NICE" Person

While I was mowing our backyard today, yes it takes me a while.. I like to enjoy mowing, I was thinking about a few visitors I had stop by earlier today. I received a knock at the door about 12:30 this afternoon, with two guys dressed up standing at my door. Mind you, I was still trying to sleep, due to getting off work at 7:30 this morning. Anyway, I wondered what was going on, did someone die or something? So, I get up and go and answer the door. The 2 guys are insurance salesmen. They see that I am still 3/4 asleep, and still want me to listen to their getup! I told them I had only had 3 hours sleep, and it did not seem to bother them at all. I was being nice and told them that we were not interested, but did they stop? NO! They can clearly see me yawning and squinting and just keep babbling on about what a nice day it is. I tell them I can take their card and talk to my husband about it, and IF we were interested, we would call and have them come back and go through it all with BOTH of us. Of course, they could not take NO for an answer. What part of being polite and nice, and saying "WE ARE NOT INTERESTED" don't these people get. They then started rattling off people's names whom have "purchased" this insurance from them. I played dumb to knowing anyone, but I did notice that at least 3 people they listed living in Olney area had died over a year ago. SCAM ALERT! I finally got them to leave, and they said something about coming back by tomm. evening. Why is it that a person cannot except a polite No? I really don't want to have to be mean and slam a door, or rip them up one side and down the other, but that is what it seems like I will have to do if they come back. I don't know why it is that I can be mean to someone I know, but to a stranger, it is hard for me.

The Insurance company is called COMBINED INSURANCE, they are out of Mattoon, IL . They 2 guys are in the area, and driving a suv, going door to door. The older guy is white, about 5'5 or so, and the other guy is black and about 6' tall. What is weird is that they are out in my area... Rural area, not town. So, if you see these guys, don't even answer the door!
